In-House Legal Advisor
Nicosia Cyprus Full-Time - Hybrid Working ModelAn international firm with an operations hub in Nicosia and activities worldwide is looking for an in-house Legal Advisor. This role would suit a qualified Legal Advisor with experience working for companies and with good knowledge of Maritime law. This role will report to the Directors of the company who will assist with the global legal requirements of the business. As part of the core global team, you will provide support to global locations of the organization around the world.
Job Description
- Create, roll out, train, and administer various global policies including COBC, Anti Bribery, etc
- Create, roll out, train, and administer various commercial terms and conditions including terms of sales for materials, rentals, services, engineering, as well as purchase terms
- Educate colleagues on compliance and legal requirements including adherence to company policy and international laws such as sanctions
- Manage, administer, and record Directors' and Shareholders' Board Meetings of the mother firm and its Subsidiaries
- Create company subsidiary checklist of critical documentation, manage and administer compliance
- Draft/review of various legal documents
- Conduct Legal Research
- Provide legal advice on corporate and/or commercial matters
- Liaise with other external lawyers as required
- Handle disputes (e.g. hire related disputes), participate in settlement negotiations under supervision from management, and maintain an organized and diligent record of all active disputes
- Work in close collaboration with the company’s other departments
Your Profile
- University degree in Law (LLB); A postgraduate degree (LLM) with specialization in Maritime Law or any other related field will be considered an advantage
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar in-house role or experience in a private practice law firm with specialization in corporate law and ideally maritime law
- Excellent command of the written and spoken English and Greek language
- A dynamic and results-oriented individual
- High sense of initiative, professionalism, and responsibility
- High conscientiousness is a key attribute sought in prospective candidates
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure
