As the Chief Risk Officer, you’ll ensure our client’s company adheres to laws, regulations, professional standards, and accepted business practices in that jurisdiction. Reporting to the UK board of directors, you’ll manage and enhance risk policies, frameworks, and procedures to safeguard the company from threats and potential frauds. You'll set appetite limits to mitigate risks and provide independent assurance that the company is appropriately governed, monitored, and reported.

 

Job Description

  • Review and implement strategic risk management operations across the business and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the risk mitigation process whilst continuously updating the company’s risk register
  • Review and recommend improvements for the risk and compliance framework following industry best practices
  • Establish and manage the relationship between our company and the regulators and manage the associated regulatory reporting
  • Identify the critical risks that affect the company's business goals, develop critical risk management strategies, and set the risk appetite
  • Formulate plans for risk mitigation and provide risk advisory for new products and services
  • Evaluate and address gaps, spread awareness, and facilitate risk management training to remedy any identified issues

Your Profile

  • Degree in law, risk management, banking, financial services, payments, information technology, or another relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in senior compliance or risk management role
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK financial services
  • Good understanding of FCA authorizations
  • Experience working with financial services regulators and other third party stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge of securities, financial markets, and financial regulation
  • Strong stakeholder management, technical, and analytical skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • FCA approval to function as SMF 4 – good to have
  • Experience working in an FCA-licensed company – good to have
  • Working experience in a fintech company – good to have
  • Experience working in a multi-site, fast-paced company
